PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW – OPEN

Rules:

  1. All exhibitors must check in a the Exhibitor Registration Table prior to entering the Exhibit Area.
  2. All pictures must be made during the current 2010-11 year.
  3. Photo size may be from 3”x5” to 8”x10” (with the exception of the panoramic photos in which the longest side must be no longer than 14 inches.  The shortest side must not exceed half the length of the longer side).
  4. All photos must be mounted on 11”x14” sturdy mat board (with the exception of the panoramic photos which must be mounted on 14”x17” sturdy mat board).  The mat board should not be more than ¼” in thickness.  Mats must not be decorated with fabric or other materials.  Up to 1/2" Gator Board may be also be substituted for mat board.  Overlay mounts are allowed.  Photos in frames will not be accepted.
  5. Each photo must be mounted securely.  For photos with overlay mats, linen tape or other photographic tape may be used to attach the photo to the back of the mat or the front of the mat backing materials. Photos may also be dry mounted to the back mat.  The overlay mat must be securely attached to the backing material.  Options for attaching front and back of the mat are using self stick mat board for the back of the mat or ATG tape or two sided glue tape or other photo safe glue.  For mounting the photo on Gator Board or Foam Core, options include dry mounting paper, self-stick boards or photo safe spray glue. Photos may be cropped or trimmed.
  6. All mounted entries must include:  Name, County, Class number and Title listed on the back of each entry.  Absolutely no writing on the front of the mounting board that is related to the photograph.
  7. All entries must have four sticky-backed Velcro® squares in each of the four corners, on the back for easier exhibiting.  Please secure the hook side (scratchy hard plastic side) of the velcro to the back of the exhibit.  Leave the loop side (soft side) attached to the hook side.  Please note that exhibits that do not have the hook side attached to the back of the exhibit will not be judged.
  8. Photography will be judged on the basis of:  story telling ability and/or creativity, photographic quality, composition, overall neatness and adherence to the directions.
  9. Each entrant is permitted only one entry in each class.  The same photograph may not be entered in more than one class.  Photos submitted not meeting the class description will not be judged.
  10. All photographs must be the original work of the entrant (with the exception of the actual printing).
  11. Negatives (or original transparencies or digital files) of prize winning pictures must be available upon request.
  12. Entries must be picked up on the last Saturday of the Fair between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM or photographs may be discarded.

 

Premiums: 1st place - $5.00 2nd place - $3.00 3rd place – $2.00

 

Note:  Adults (17 and older) and Children (up to age 16) will be judged separately.  All rules apply similarly for adults and children.

Classes

  1. PORTRAITS:  depiction of a personality, head or full figure, posed or informal, not candid, wherein the person is the main interest (Duos are permitted).
  2. HUMAN INTEREST:  candid, people, interacting, etc.
  3. SCENIC:  landscapes, water, sunsets, buildings, roads, etc.
  4. FLORAL:  flowers, gardens, plants, cultivated or wild
  5. ANIMAL:  wildlife (no domestic or pets)
  6. ANIMAL:  domestic, pets
  7. CHILDREN:  includes babies
  8. UNCLASSIFIED:  abstract creative photography which can include “trick photography”, buildings, still-life and subjects not properly belonging in a category above.
  9. BLACK & WHITE:  any subject/class from above photographed in black and white
