Rules:
- All Exhibitors must check in at the Exhibitors Registration Table prior to entering the Show Area.
- All pets must be on leash or harness.
- Training, appearance, and conformity will be used in scoring points (pedigree is not considered).
- All entries in 4-H Division must be enrolled in the Grant County 4-H Dog Project and have participated in one half of the scheduled club meetings.
- Ribbons will be given in addition to cash awards.
- Health certificates required at the time of entry on the day of the show. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Dog must be owned by the 4-H member or the immediate family, trained by 4-H member and cared for a majority of the time by the 4-H member showing the dog. A profes- sional handler can train 4-Her in a group situation such as dog project group or dog club. Private professional training of the dog is prohibited.
- A limit of 1 entry per class.
- All rules will comply with the State Fair 4-H Dog Show rules.

Classes: Judged by age as of January 1 of the current year.
A. Showmanship (Best Handler trophy will be awarded from this group.)
- Beginners Division: For first year members in the showmanship project. Dog and handler must be in their first year of showing in showmanship and must not have shown in any 4-H showmanship class prior to January. Participants who have shown in AKC Junior Showmanship are not eligible for this class. Handlers in this class may not enter any other showmanship class.
- Junior Division: Exhibitors age 9, 10, and 11.
- Intermediate Division: Exhibitors age 12, 13, and 14.
- Senior Division: Exhibitors age 15 years and up.
- Best Handler: Winners of each showmanship class will be eligible for Best Handler. No score sheet will be used. (For exhibition only.)
B. Conformation (Best of Show trophy will be awarded from this group.) Spayed or neutered dogs are eligible to compete.

C. Obedience (High in Trail trophy will be awarded from this group.)
- Amateur Class: Dogs must perform three tricks or commands. Dogs to be judged on cleanliness, grooming, manner and performance. Dogs entered in this class are not eligible for competition in obedience classes but are allowed to show in showmanship and conformation. A limit of 2 years with the same dog in this class.
- Sub Novice A: For the first year member in dog project. Dog and handler must be in their first year of enrollment in the dog project and must not have submitted a dog record book.
- Sub Novice B: For the dog, which has never qualified in Novice at an AKC show or won a blue ribbon at the Grant County Fair 4-H Dog Show in Sub Novice B.
- Graduate Beginner: Dog must have never qualified in a Novice Class at a recognized trial i.e. AKC, UKC, etc. (Recall , long sit, long down, and stand for examination are done off the leash).
- Novice A: For dogs of handlers who do not have a C.D. title (Companion Dog title awarded by AKC). On lead and off lead heeling, off lead stand for exam, recall, long sit, and long down.
- Novice B: For dogs who do not have a C.D. title or 4-Hers having show the same dog 2 years in Novice A. (Exercises the same as Novice A.)
- Graduate Novice: For dogs which have not been certified by a judge to have received a qualifying score toward a CDX title prior to closing of entries. (Exercises same as Novice A except there will be a drop on recall and out of sight sits and downs.) No limit on number of years showing in this class.
- Open: For dogs that can perform open exercise (AKC Open Exercises). No limit on the number of years showing in this class.
- Utility: For dogs that can perform open exercise (AKC Open Exercises). No limit on the number of years showing in this class.
- Brace: Two dogs of same breed performing Sub Novice Routine. 11. Team: 4 kids/4 dogs working as a team.
D. Costume
- Most creative dog costume. Dog may participant in both classes if the dog’s cos- tume is changed. Dog must remain on leash at all times. Brace Team accepted: two dogs accepted as one costume entry (dog only).
- Most creative dog and 4-Her costume depicting a theme. The theme may be histori- cal, humorous, cartoon, etc. (dog and member).
